5 Things To Do In The Morning To Change Your Life — Just Add A Little M.A.G.I.C.

“Your day is pretty much formed by how you spend your first hour. Check your thoughts, attitude and heart.” — Anonymous

Most great minds, top performers and m/billionaires attribute much of their success to doing what 97% of the population wouldn’t do and that is, getting up before the sun rise to focus on what matters most.

Great minds such as, Nikola Tesla, Steve Jobs, Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, et al., spent the first hour of their day investing time in growing their minds, nurturing their soul, seeking clarity, expanding their knowledge, growing their business, and putting their bodies and minds into peak state.

While most people would prefer to HIT THE SNOOZE BUTTON, this elite group of people got out of bed early and invested the first hour of their day cultivating their minds to be the best version of themselves.

A few years ago I formulated a concept called, My Morning MAGIC or MMM, and Amira A. Sookram, Author of GoalSetting101, was inspirational in helping me finalize the last letter.

M.A.G.I.C is an acronym for:

M = Meditate
A = Active
G = Gratitude
I = Imagination / Inspiration
C = Choose

Successful people attribute their prosperity to seizing the first hour of their day doing the following 5 things:

The First is, MEDITATION

Meditation: This is perhaps the #1 practice which will bring clarify, focus and peace into your life. There are endless scientific studies that shows the benefits of daily meditation that heals the mind and body.

Here’s a short list of daily meditation benefits from HealthLine:

  1. Reduces Stress and Controls Anxiety
  2. Enhances Self-Awareness
  3. Increases Attention Span
  4. Improves Sleep
  5. Can Decrease Blood Pressure

If you are new to meditation, there are many fabulous guided meditation on YouTube. Find someone you resonate with. You can search for, “guided meditation” in YouTube and you will see several auto-suggestions to select from — I first got started sampling a few experts, like Dr. Joe Dispenza, Jose Silva, Kelly Howell, Vishen Lakhiani, et.al. I suggest starting with as little as 5 minutes every morning and gradually increase your time.

“The mind is definitely something that can be transformed, and meditation is a means to transform it.” — 14th Dalai Lama

The Second is ACTIVE

Active: movement is the way to wake up your body. The scientific benefits of exercising early are numerous, from having a fit body and mind, clarity, better mood as the brain produces norepinephrine, dopamine and serotonin — I call these, “happy hormones.

Early morning exercise sharpens your cognitive abilities, making it much easier to manage your daily.

“An active life changes your body, your mind, your mood and your attitude .”
— ZAK

The Third is GRATITUDE

Gratitude: there’s so much science which shows a grateful heart causes our brain to release dopamine and serotonin, two neurotransmitters that make us feel great — these “happy hormones” put us in a state of gratefulness and scientifically speaking, we cannot be angry or worried when our mind is in a grateful state — the act of gratitude trains your brain to be in a healthy mental state, benefitting both mind and body.

“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.” — Oprah Winfrey

The Fourth is INSPIRATION / IMAGINATION

Inspiration / Imagination: being able to see your “future self” as clearly as you can, see where you are, what you are doing, what kind of foods are you eating, how are you spending your free time, etc., — taking time daily to see your “future self,” will cause your brain to rewire to your new self and since our brain can’t distinguish between ‘reality’ and ‘imagined,’ the more you use your imagination, the more you are programming your subconscious mind to your, “future self” image.

“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.”
— Albert Einstein

The Fifth is CHOOSE

Choose: most people start their day with a long TO-DO List which can be overwhelming. Focus on your “Most Important Task” MIT, first thing when you get to work, and as you complete your MIT, the pleasure you will experience will release your happy hormones — accomplishing your MIT first thing in the morning will fuel you for the entire day. After completing your MIT, you can then take a break and resume working on the next item on your list.

“What’s the ONE Thing you can do such that by doing it everything else will be easier or unnecessary?” — Gary W. Keller

Author Gary Keller advocates in his Wall Street Journal Best Selling book, “The ONE Thing,” to focus on doing ONE thing daily which is much more productive than having a long to-do list with many unrealistic tasks.

Next, take a minute to review your day, your meals and snacks. Prepping your day and meals will make you more conscious of your activities, enables you to make better decisions, and when you plan your day you will feel more in control.

You may wish to plan your day the night before, right before you sleep. As you plan what must be done the next day, ask some important questions and your subconscious mind will go to work while you sleep.

Examples of questions to ask right before you sleep:

✓ “How can I increase sales by 15%?”

✓ “What can I do to best serve my family?”

✓ “What can I do to solve [problem]?”

Closing Thoughts . . .

There’s so much we can learn from the many great minds who spent the first hour of their day seeking clarity, expanding their knowledge, fine-tuning their craft, and putting their bodies and minds into peak state.

Successful people attribute their prosperity to doing the following 5 things every morning . . . M.A.G.I.C is an acronym for:

M = Meditate | A = Active | G = Gratitude | I = Imagination | C = Choose

Do these 5 things in the morning and your life will radically change in the next 30 days.
